New World
Celts Tasmania
we used a big St.Patricks'
Day Festival in Tasmania to "launch" a visible presence of NWC here.
I hired a marquee, dressed it up with a
heap of flags from celtic nations, screenprinted T shirts (one is on it's way
to you), printed handouts, and spent a wonderful weekend speaking with people
about NWC....and listening to great music.
We were located opposite the main stage
which was great. The "celtic tent" as I called it was voted best dressed and
also served as a meeting place for musicians and out pipe band, a place to
store instruments securely, sit down and have a cuppa tea, and on one late
afternoon it was a venue for a casual music session with the state's finest
all gathering around the tent.
It was such a success that I'm planning to
have a custom marquee made (medieval style) for future events, and make it
available to other celtic groups.
Re. members, just two signed up, but
important people, (I know, they all are) one is Chieftain of the St.Andrew
Society, the other a prominent celtic musician.
Both have the contacts to spread the word a
wee bit further.
Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me and
rely on others to send photos.
Attached are the first two of the main
Parade, we marched behind the Pipe band.
Small beginnings, but I trust it will grow.
I'll send more photos as they come to hand
if you wish.
cheers
