Celtic Heritage Scholarship

 

The New World Celts, Inc. wishes to reward the talents of those young people who have demonstrated an interest in learning and promoting Celtic culture and heritage.  To aid young men and women under the age of 25 in their endeavors, the NWC is offering scholarships in the amount of $250, based upon an applicant’s clearly written statement of intent and description of proposed activity, as outlined in the attached application form. The NWC is a non-profit organization, non-political, non-religious, and open to everyone interested in Celtic culture, regardless of race, creed and color.

Our mission:

·         To perpetuate Celtic Culture and history in the New World.

2007 Awards

1. Lauren Brenzo, age 16, Hollywood, Maryland. Scottish Fiddling. To attend Alasdair Fraser's world famous fiddling school, Sabhal Mor Ostaig, on the Isle of Skye, Scotland in August, 2007.
 
2. Carson Nelson, age 10, Spring Hill, Florida. Highland Dance. To attend the School of Scottish Arts in North Carolina in July, 2007.
 
3. Evan McManus, age 7, St. Pete Beach, FL. Highland Snare Drum. To attend the North American Academy of Piping and Drumming in North Carolina, summer 2007.
 
4. Emma and Ally Rogerson, twins age 8, New Port Richey, FL. Highland Dance. To attend the College of Piping Highland Dance Camp, Prince Edward Island, Canada, July, 2007.

Each were officially informed of their awards by Mike Dunlap, NWC International President, Ron Barnette and Bob Peirson (NWC Scholarship Committee). The New World Celts are indeed proud to assist in this educational endeavor, as our service mission is furthered! Congratulations to all involved!

 

 

2006 Awards

The second annual NWC Celtic Heritage Scholarship Awards have been awarded in April 2006! Two outstanding young people were awarded $250 scholarships toward their advanced dance and bagpiping training and Celtic education at the prestigious Ohio Scottish Arts School, on the Oberlin College campus. The school is celebrating its 28th year of preserving the arts and traditions of Scotland, and include a who's who of prominent international instructors.

We wish to congratulate Dana Dubrock (age 24, Dunedin, Dance Instructing, Piping) and Carolynne McDonald (age 15, Spring Hill, Highland Dancing) for their thoughtful applications and written plans, as they develop their skills and education on the Oberlin campus.

Also awarded a $250 Scholarship was Kane McManus (age 12, Saint Petersburg) for drumming at the North American Academy of Piping and Drumming in Valle Cruces, North Carolina. Kane is the youngest member of the Tampa Bay Pipes and Drums.

2005 Awards

The first annual NWC Celtic Heritage Scholarship Awards have been awarded in May 2005! Three outstanding young people were awarded $250 scholarships toward their advanced dance and bagpiping training and Celtic education at the prestigious Ohio Scottish Arts School, on the Oberlin College campus. The school is celebrating its 27th year of preserving the arts and traditions of Scotland, and include a who's who of prominent international instructors.
We wish to congratulate Chelsea Cyr (age 17, Dunedin), Roberta Sefcik (age 14, Dunedin), and Carolynne McDonald (age 14, Spring Hill) for their thoughtful applications and written plans, as they develop their skills and education from June 25 to July 1, 2005  on the Oberlin campus.
